About Butterscotch’s Geo Trips & Tours

The idea for Butterscotch’s Geo Trips and Tours was born from an educational program, created by the K-12 Alliance organization for teachers and educators, that provided training in science curriculum at the elementary, middle school and high school level. During these two week trainings, teachers and educators would participate in different pedagogical classes which culminated in a hands-on field trip to connect what they had been studying with real world science.

These field trips took us to university labs, submarines, water treatment facilities, solar energy businesses, recycling plants, ranches, state/national parks and many other places that helped to show teachers how to use ordinary things around them to enhance their science lessons.  They were inspirational and fostered a desire to share this knowledge with the public at large.

Butterscotch’s Geo Trips and Tours explores the unique historical and geological background of local areas which are not well known but are just as interesting as the more traveled and publicized sites.

We are committed to the notion that field trips ought to be done in comfort! BGT&T’s uses modern buses, mini-buses, and air conditioned vans to travel to these adventures. BGT&T’s also provides a complementary breakfast burrito with coffee, a delicious lunch and ample snacks on the trip. No one goes hungry!

Hi there!  I am Regina Van Wey owner and tour guide for Butterscotch’s Geo trips and tours. I am a retired teacher of 30 years with Master’s degree in Education. I taught from 2nd grade to high school with the majority in middle school and high school.

The main subjects I taught were science and history with emphasis in Life and Earth. I was a member of several teacher organizations such as CSTA, California Science Teachers Association and NSTA, National Science Teachers Association.

I belonged to K-12 Alliance, a professional teachers organization as a lead teacher, staff developer and Cadre member. We trained K-12 teachers on how cover the science standards in their classrooms. In these trainings we conducted field trips so teachers could experience Earth, Physical and Biological activities using the standards we covered in the training. It’s these field trips and training that I use to guide my clients excursions around the areas that we travel.

I am looking forward to share the history and geological background of these places that are exciting hidden jewels of the Earth. So let me guide you on an adventure in comfort and let the learning begin!!
